Termo de juramento de Barata Ribeiro<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

O livro na foto registrou os termos de juramentos feitos na C\u00e2mara Municipal de S\u00e3o Paulo por autoridades e outros servidores que prestaram servi\u00e7os na capital paulista entre 1873 e 1930. Um dos juramentos do livro \u00e9 do m\u00e9- dico e pol\u00edtico baiano C\u00e2ndido Barata Ribeiro, nascido em 11 de mar\u00e7o de 1843. Ribeiro foi nomeado comiss\u00e1rio vacinador da Prov\u00edncia de S\u00e3o Paulo em 1874. Ribeiro lutou pela aboli\u00e7\u00e3o da escravatura e teve grande atua\u00e7\u00e3o na campanha pelo regime republicano no Brasil. Tornou-se prefeito do Distrito Federal (na \u00e9poca, Rio de Janeiro) em 1892 e, no ano seguinte, foi nomeado ministro do Supremo Tribunal Federal. Em 1899, foi eleito senador pelo Distrito Federal. Faleceu em 10 de fevereiro de 1910, na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, sendo sepultado no Cemit\u00e9rio de S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o Batista.<\/p>\n

\u201cTermo de juramento deferido ao Doutor C\u00e2ndido Barata Ribeiro para o cargo de Comiss\u00e1rio Vacinador desta Prov\u00edncia. Aos dezesseis de abril de mil oitocentos setenta e quatro nesta Imperial Cidade de S\u00e3o Paulo, em casa do Senhor Presidente da C\u00e2mara Municipal \u2013 Doutor Ernesto Mariano da Silva Ramos compareceu o Doutor C\u00e2ndido Ribeiro B, digo C\u00e2ndido Barata Ribeiro, a quem o dito Senhor Presidente deferiu o juramento dos Santos Evangelhos, encarregando-o de bem servir o cargo de comiss\u00e1rio vacinador desta Prov\u00edncia, para o qual fora nomeado pelo Governo Geral em dez de janeiro deste ano, e interinamente pelo Governo desta Prov\u00edncia em 26 de novembro de 1873. Recebido por ele o dito juramento assim prometeu cumprir. Do que para constar lavrei o presente termo que assinou com o Senhor Presidente da C\u00e2mara, eu Ant\u00f4nio Joaquim da Costa Guimar\u00e3es Secret\u00e1rio o escrevi.<\/em><\/p>\n
